Print Avery 5160 Labels From a Spreadsheet (Without Mail Merge)
Avery 5160 is the workhorse mailing label: 30 labels per sheet, 1 by 2-5/8 inches each. If you have ever needed to send out invitations, holiday cards, donor thank-yous, or invoices, you have probably bought a box.
The traditional way to fill them out from a spreadsheet is Microsoft Word's mail merge. It works. It is also a process that almost nobody enjoys: pick a data source, navigate three nested dialogs, insert merge fields by hand, preview, fix the alignment, print one test page, realize the addresses are off by a row, start over.
Here is the shorter version.
The two-click path
- Upload your spreadsheet. Excel (.xlsx) or CSV. ContactBlitz auto-detects standard column headers like Name, Address, City, State, and ZIP. You do not need to remap anything if your headers are reasonably named.
- Choose Avery 5160 from the print menu and download the PDF.
Open the PDF, drop a sheet of 5160 labels into your printer, print. The alignment is fixed and tested, so what you see in the preview is what lands on the label.
What if your spreadsheet is messy?
Real spreadsheets often look like this: addresses split across "Address Line 1" and "Address Line 2", a "Full Name" column instead of separate first and last, a few rows missing ZIP codes, three different spellings for "California."
The auto-detect handles most of this. For anything it gets wrong, the review step lets you edit individual contacts before generating the labels. You can also delete rows you do not want to mail to (duplicates, opt-outs, that one cousin) without touching the underlying spreadsheet.
Other label sizes
If 5160 is not the right size for your project, Avery 18294 is also supported: 60 small return-address labels per sheet (1-3/4 by 2/3 inches). Useful for sender labels, name tags, or anywhere you need short text in a tight format.
Both formats generate from the same upload. You do not have to redo any setup if you decide to switch.
Compatible with dozens of equivalent product codes from Avery's catalog (5260, 8160, 5520, 18160, and many others for 5160; 5155, 5195, 18195, and others for 18294), so most label sheets you might already have on hand will work.
Envelopes, too
If labels are not the look you want, the same address list can print directly onto envelopes: #10 business, 6x9 booklet, A7 invitation, A2 RSVP. Same upload, different output.
